Every year on April 22nd, Earth Day brings the world together to celebrate and educate kids about climate change through different activities. No matter where students are, there’s always an opportunity to teach them about protecting the environment, recycling, and reducing unnecessary waste. Keeping this in mind, students of SRS Global School, Meerut celebrated this day with full enthusiasm through Plantation Drive, Sketching & Colouring their imaginations on sheets.
This year, the students engaged in two major activities to celebrate Earth Day: a Plantation Drive and a Sketching & Colouring session, where they gave shape to their imaginations and thoughts about nature. These activities not only allowed students to express their love for the environment but also deepened their understanding of the need to protect it.
The Plantation Drive was one of the key highlights of the day. Students from various classes participated in planting saplings on the school grounds, contributing to making their school a greener, healthier place. Armed with trowels and watering cans, the students planted a variety of trees and plants, from flowering shrubs to trees that will grow tall and provide shade in the coming years. This initiative was a powerful way for students to connect with nature, fostering a sense of responsibility and stewardship for the Earth. Through this hands-on activity, they learned about the vital role trees play in reducing carbon footprints, improving air quality, and preserving biodiversity.
In addition to planting trees, the students also took part in the Sketching & Colouring activity, where they were encouraged to draw and color images that reflected their thoughts on the environment, wildlife, and the beauty of nature. From vibrant forests to clean rivers, from wildlife in their natural habitats to the sun shining over a green Earth, the students used their artistic skills to depict the world they hope to protect. These drawings were not just an expression of creativity but also an opportunity to reflect on the pressing environmental challenges we face today, such as climate change, deforestation, and pollution.
Throughout the day, the school also organized awareness sessions, educating the students about the importance of reducing waste, recycling materials, and conserving energy. Teachers emphasized how small, daily actions can have a big impact on the environment. Whether it’s turning off lights when not in use, using reusable bags instead of plastic, or reducing water consumption, every little step counts toward making the Earth a better place for everyone.
The celebration of Earth Day at SRS Global School wasn’t just about raising awareness on a single day—it was about instilling lifelong habits of sustainability and environmental care in students. The school’s commitment to environmental education goes beyond Earth Day, encouraging students to integrate eco-friendly practices into their everyday lives.
