Visit to SHREE RAM Hospital

The Geoboard model-making activity, organized by the Mathematics Club, was an exciting and interactive session that allowed students to delve into geometry and fractions hands-on. Held in the Math lab, the activity aimed to foster both creativity and mathematical understanding among the participants. Students were allowed to use rubber bands on a grid of pegs to form different shapes, such as triangles, squares, rectangles, and more complex polygons. This not only helped them explore the properties of shapes but also encouraged them to think critically about spatial relationships and measurements.


One of the most exciting aspects of the Geoboard activity was its ability to introduce fractions of square units. Students learned how to divide shapes into smaller sections, visualizing fractional areas with ease. For example, when creating a square, students were able to break it into smaller squares or rectangles, helping them grasp the concept of fractions and how parts of a whole can be represented geometrically. This approach made learning about fractions more intuitive and engaging, as students could physically manipulate the shapes to see how fractions work in real life.


Throughout the session, the students worked collaboratively, sharing ideas and techniques for creating their shapes. This encouraged teamwork and communication, allowing them to learn from each other while enhancing their problem-solving skills. The enthusiasm in the room was palpable, with students eagerly comparing their creations, discussing how they could modify their shapes, and even challenging each other to make more complex designs.


The activity not only helped the students strengthen their understanding of basic geometric principles but also provided them with a deeper appreciation for the beauty and creativity involved in mathematics.
